Enriching Our Student Life
As a school, we understand that education and creating well-rounded individuals extends beyond academics in the classroom. We are proud to offer a wide variety of activities that appeal to each student. These activities aim to provide fun and engaging opportunities for students to experience with their classmates both in school and through extracurricular options.
School Activities
Book Fairs
Book fairs are hosted twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring, where all students can foster their love of reading by shopping for new favorite books.
Catholic Schools Week
We celebrate Catholic Schools Week each year, focusing on honoring our community and our commitment to our faith with special activities for all students.
D.A.R.E.
Our sixth graders participate in the D.A.R.E program, learning about safe and healthy decision making. The program is wrapped up each year with their graduation ceremony.
Field Day
Our annual “Titan Games” takes place every spring. All students participate in field events and enjoy a fun day with friends and teachers.
Grade Level Field Trips
Students in grades 1-8 take an annual grade level field trip, chosen to enrich grade specific curriculum. Special classes, such as Enrichment and Spanish have taken trips as a class as well.
Science Fair
Seventh grade students work throughout the year on brainstorming, completing and presenting their Science Fair idea.
Spelling Bee
Our Spelling Bee is hosted annually for students in grades 4-8. These students can participate and compete for a chance to attend the statewide competition.
STEM
STEM programs are incorporated into all grade levels, offering our lab space for hands-on activities that enrich daily curriculum.
Student Buddy Program
Our student buddy program helps connect students across grade levels. We have buddy programs for 1st/7th, 2nd/8th, 3rd/5th and 4th/6th.
Student Council
Seventh and eighth grade students can participate in Student Council, where they work to put together events and service projects for the school. Students can be elected to serve at a higher level within the program as well.
Spiritual Activities
Living Saints Museum
Our third graders work to build a Living Saints Museum each year, researching to learn more about saints, depicting each saint through art and presenting to peers and parents through an interactive museum.
Living Stations of the Cross
Our 8th grade students create and present Living Stations of the Cross each year during Lent. All students attend to help with understanding the Lenten season and why we celebrate.
Matthew 25 Ministries
Our third graders schedule multiple trips to Matthew 25 Ministries throughout the year to to help with their mission. They learn about their efforts and how they can be of service to others in need.
Rosary Walk
Our 4th/6th grade prayer buddies work together to create a Rosary Walk. All students, parents and parishioners are invited to participate in this interactive walk through the Rosary.
School Mass
All students participate in school mass weekly. Students are able to participate through our school mass choir or as servers, lectors and cantors.
Service Projects
All students participate in several service projects through the year, including Advent and Lent service projects. Students donate to both our Box of Joy and Twinning Ministry and continues to help with their understanding of stewardship.
Extracurricular Activities
Band
Starting in fourth grade, students can elect to participate in our afterschool band program. Our program allows for the choice of instrument and several performances are hosted each year. Both beginner and advanced is offered.
Board Game Club
Board game club is a weekly club where students in grades 6-8 can play games with their peers and friends. These games promote strategy, skill and friendly competition.
Chess Club
Weekly chess club is for students in grades 4-8. Students play against peers and learn new skills/strategies and even compete in citywide tournaments.
Drama Club
Drama Club is available for students in grades 4-8 and meet for to work on our spring musical. Drama club consists of acting, singing, art and tech crew.
GCCYS Sports
Our athletic program provides options for both boys and girls in all grade levels to compete in a variety of sports. Learn more about our athletics.
LEGO League
LEGO League is a weekly club where students in grade 5-8 engage in research, problem-solving, coding, and engineering – building and programming a LEGO® robot that navigates the missions of a Robot Game.
LEGO Masters
LEGO Masters is for students in grades 4-8 where teams of students put their creative thinking and design skills to the test in competitions that challenge them to build a new LEGO® Masterpiece each week.
MathCounts
MathCounts is a national middle school mathematics competition that builds problem-solving skills and fosters achievement through four levels of fun, in-person “bee” style contests and competitions.
Scouts
Our scouts program includes Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Scouting invites every youth to a safe, fun place to learn, explore and grow. Learn more about Troop 500 and their missions.
Ski & Snowboard Club
Ski and Snowboard club is available for students in grades 4-8. These students take weekly trips to Perfect North Slopes during winter to embrace their snow sports spirit and create unforgettable experiences with like-minded enthusiasts.
Rosary Club
Rosary Club is available for students in grades 6-8 and occurs monthly where they work together to learn how to make rosaries for distribution amongst our church community.
